Kabul Cuisine has become a popular and successful business since it’s beginnings at FEED Kitchens in 2021. Owner Bakht Mohammad is the former long-time owner of a restaurant in Afghanistan, so he knows his way around a kitchen. Once he got to Madison, it

did not take long for him to start doing catering jobs in the area. He had previously served with the U.S. Army for ten years in his home country, but after Afghanistan came under control of the Taliban in 2021, he came to America to start a new life with his family.
He was helped with his resettlement in Madison by Jewish Social Services, and they referred him to FEED Kitchens to begin building his food business. Since becoming a FEED Kitchens member in 2021, he has greatly expanded his reach into the greater Madison area and beyond. He has been a favorite vendor at the Northside Farmer’s Market, selling hot meals on Sunday mornings from 8:30am to 12:30pm through October. He is also a fixture at the Beloit Farmer’s Market, and is in the middle of a successful season vending at local events such as Concerts on the Square and Madison Night Markets. He continues to offer catering services for events large and small, serving signature dishes such as an Afghani rice pilaf called Kabuli Pulao, Chicken Korma, Chickpea Curry, Chicken and Vegetable Samosas, and Naan Flatbread.
We greatly appreciate his presence at FEED Kitchens, not just for being a friendly face, but also for the huge plates of food that he gives to staff and his fellow chefs in the kitchen. While mainly working events and festivals, he has hopes to open his own restaurant in the future. Look for him around town, and we will keep you posted on what’s new with his business and others from FEED Kitchens. From providing kitchen and storage space, helping navigate the necessary food licenses, and providing connections to other business services from partner organizations, FEED Kitchens is glad to be operating on the northside as an anchor of the local food scene supporting entrepreneurs.
