A new and enlarged Avis/Budget rental car facility is being constructed at the northern corner of Packers Avenue and Darwin Road.
“We are an Avis and Budget Car Rental franchise, providing both car and truck rental,” said Bill Wallschlaeger, president of Midwestern Wheels Inc. “We will offer public electric vehicle charging stations and will rent electric vehicles as well.”
The business address and entrance will be at 3202 Packers Ave. A total of 25 employees will occupy the two-story building, with an additional 20 on-call part-time workers. The family-owned company has been in business since 1958.
Avis was previously located farther down on Darwin Road. “We have outgrown that location, so we purchased the corner lot,” Wallschlaeger explained. The new building, which is across from the Hertz facility, is expected to be completed by September.
