Brunch, anyone?

Northside News

Imagine this, you wake up a beautiful sunny Sunday morning; roll yourself out of bed for that sip of hot coffee. What is your go to breakfast, or brunch? My family likes to put on a special breakfast every Sunday. My partner and I, with our two dogs underfoot like to make biscuits & gravy, pancakes, waffles, or even a nice avocado toast. The entire purpose to allow us to share a special morning, but, not everyone desires to get up early to get themselves busy! Or perhaps, you desire a faire that you will not be making in a casual morning… croissants. I will share with you I have undertook that process many times, and personally… it’s a bit much!

Thankfully though, in our beautiful Northside there aren’t just one, but two local bakeries that make these delicacies far, far better than what comes out a tube. Whether you crave a plush buttery decadence, or a pastry that could shatter from the slightest touch, Far Breton and Bloom Bakery have your breakfast all set. Not only are their croissants some of the best in my humble opinion, but their locations are wonderful too. As you walk into Far Breton, you will be greeted with warmth in both color palette and employee, there are many things to choose from, from crepes to gallettes. Once you are done, you can even nosh in their attached café. As you walk into Bloom on North Street you will be greeted with bright colors, bold accents, and a building sharing space with other delightful Northside businesses (alongside beautiful breads, and many sweets!). Whether you are on the hunt for your own Proustian memory (a memory triggered by a sensory experience), or to feel the welcoming “Hey, Neighbor!” within your community, come give these places a try, or return in time for brunch. But, if you are in the mood for a different fare. I would be remiss not to remind you of all the breakfast options the Northside has to offer! Don’t forget about Zippy Lube, FEED Bakery, The Willy Street Co-op, and Ancora Café + Bakery! Whether you prefer a savory breakfast or a sweet one, the Northside has you covered!
