East High Booster Club returns: supporting students, one fundraiser at a time

By Marlisa Kopenski Condon
East High Booster Club

For the past few years, East High School’s student athletes and club members have faced an uphill battle. When the East High Booster Club disbanded during the COVID-19 pandemic, 25 athletic teams and 59 student clubs lost a crucial source of funding.

The impact has been undeniable — teams are struggling without new uniforms and equipment, clubs are missing out on field trips and guest speakers, and students are left without the resources that enrich their high school experience. Meanwhile, schools like LaFollette High School raise and distribute over $100,000 annually in grants and scholarships, while East High students have had to rely solely on district funding which, unfortunately, is never enough.

But now, there’s good news. The East High Booster Club is back! A dedicated group of parents has stepped up to relaunch this essential organization, ensuring that East High’s students in both athletics and student-run clubs get the support they need.

The new Booster Club is committed to raising and distributing funds to help cover costs for transportation, equipment, enrichment opportunities and more. Coaches and club leaders will be able to request funds, making sure every student has the chance to fully participate, whether they’re on the football field, on the stage, or fighting for social justice.

And you can help! The first fundraising event, “Party for Purgolders,” is set for Saturday, April 19, 7–11 pm, at the Madison Elks Lodge, 711 Jenifer St., featuring the high-energy disco sounds of V05, a band guaranteed to get everyone dancing. Tickets are $35 each and include live music, light refreshments, and plenty of good vibes, all while supporting a great cause. Scan the QR Code to purchase tickets. This event is for adults only.

The Booster Club is calling on parents, grandparents, alumni, neighbors and friends to get involved — whether by volunteering, donating, or simply showing up to have a great time at the fundraiser. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference for the students of East High.
