FEED Bakery will be installing a modest price increase on our products effective Aug. 18, 2025.This decision does not come easy, but we are facing the same pressure all food businesses are currently struggling with: our cost of goods (ingredients and packaging) is at an all-time high and does not appear to be coming down any time soon. We held off on the price increase throughout the spring as prices fluctuated with the threat of tariffs, and we were completing a process of analyzing our product line with the Small Business Development Center and UW-Madison School of Business. In looking at our cost of goods through the first half of 2025 and looking into the future as best we could, we decided it is time to increase prices.
FEED Bakery is operated by Madison Northside Planning Council, Inc. as a social enterprise. The sale of our goods funds our successful Bakery Earn and Learn Program and has put us in a position to pay our students as interns. Any other profit brought in by FEED Bakery supports the operation of FEED Kitchens, NPC’s food business incubator kitchen where FEED Bakery operates.
FEED Bakery products are all scratch made with quality ingredients right in your neighborhood. When our products are delivered to stores or sold directly by us at the Northside Farmers Market and other events, you can be assured they are freshly baked, in many cases just hours before being displayed for sale.
FEED Bakery products have a loyal following and, as such, we are hopeful that our price increases won’t negatively affect your ability to enjoy them, but we understand this news is a blow to household budgets that are stretched.
We place a high value on our customers. Our bakery is just one of many food businesses working out of FEED Kitchens, so we are a bit capped on our ability to grow the program. This means we are highly dependent on our existing relationships and want to ensure a continued positive relationship with you.
