Lake View Elementary School has received a donation of nearly $12,000 in musical instruments and accessories from the Morgan Wallen Foundation, coinciding with the country music performer’s two-night concert stop at Camp Randall Stadium in June.
“We are deeply grateful for this generous gift to our school community,” said Nou Vang-Vue, Lake View’s principal. “Music helps our students build confidence, express themselves and find joy, and this donation gives us the tools to expand access and deepen that experience.”
The donation, valued at $11,293, includes: classroom sets of glockenspiels, metallophones, xylophones, handbells, and resonator bells; more than three dozen sets of Sonor brand mallets; 30 soprano ukulele string sets; and eight mobile Orff stands to support flexible music instruction.
The instruments will be used by Lake View students beginning this fall, enhancing music education for years to come.
The donation was administered by the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, a national nonprofit that works to expand access to high-quality music education for underserved schools across the U.S.
“This generous donation is a powerful example of how individuals and organizations can make a lasting impact on public education,” said Dan Davidson, MMSD’s director of arts education. “Access to high-quality music programming inspires creativity, builds confidence and helps students feel connected to school and one another, and this gift will enrich those experiences for years to come.”
The donation is part of the Foundation’s 2025 Tour Give Back initiative, which provides support for youth music and sports programs in cities hosting Wallen’s tour. Lake View’s music program was selected to receive the award in recognition of its efforts to nurture a love of music and creativity in young learners.
