Lindbergh Elementary School

Paul, of Home Depot-East, came out on a chilly December day to teach kindergarten through third-graders how to follow instructional directions, use a hammer and build something. Home Depot donated Paul’s time and a project kit for each student. Projects included a fishing game, gingerbread picture frame and an airplane.
The Madison Public Library Bubbler program loaned Lindbergh Elementary School Library their stop-motion animation stations. Fourth-graders researched storms, wrote a storyboard and created a stop motion animation using these machines.

Four talented community sewers (Judy Imhoff, Karen Marx, Mary Meloy and Deesa Pence) donated their time to give fifth-graders experience with a sewing machine. They also helped sew mittens the students made. Fifth-graders learned about patterns, pinning, tracing, cutting and sewing. Their service learning project was creating mittens and cat blankets for a spring craft fair. The mittens will be sold, and the money will be donated to a charity chosen by the class. The cat blankets will be given to the Dane County Humane Society.
