Lions on the Northside: seeing clearly and coming together

By Tony Sobczak
Lions District 27-D1

You may have spotted some friendly faces by the big blue tent at the Northside Farmers Market on Father’s Day. That was us — Lions Clubs of Southwestern Wisconsin — and we were there to offer free vision screenings for kids. With just a quick scan, we helped families take the first step toward healthy eyes and bright futures. The smiles were contagious, and we were thrilled to meet so many of our neighbors.

On June 23, we hosted a casual “Get to Know Us” event at the Goodwill Community Center. There were Subway subs, conversation, and plenty of community spirit. We shared our vision (pun intended!) for a brand-new Lions Club right here on the Northside of Madison — one that reflects the energy, diversity and heart of this part of town.

Why are we starting a club? Because we believe that when neighbors come together, great things happen. Whether it’s helping kids see better, supporting local families, or jumping into service projects that make our community stronger, there’s power in people showing up for each other.

Our next event is just around the corner — stay tuned on our Facebook page, Madison North Lions, for all the details.

We’d love to meet you, hear your ideas, and grow this club with your voice included. Whether you’re curious, passionate, or just want to help out a little — there’s a place for you here.
