Scout Troop 127
On March 8 Scout Troop 127 collected nonperishable food donations from resident’s doorsteps throughout Northside neighborhoods as a part of the annual Scouting for Food drive. The donated food was then taken to the Lakeview Food Pantry to help those in need.
In total, Troop 127 collected nearly 2,000 pounds of food from generous Northside residents. Eighteen scouts and leaders helped with the effort and made the haul easier. The Lakeview Food Pantry was more than thankful for the food received because they are helping more families than ever before.
“I enjoy participating in this service project because I know I am doing good by helping others in need,” said Julia Stevens, an 11-year-old Tenderfoot rank scout. The troop is planning to host the food drive again next year.
“Thank you to the Northside neighbors who left nonperishable food items on doorsteps. This service project wouldn’t have the same impact without their help,” said Matt Meyer, Troop 127 Scoutmaster.
