New vendors and activities at Northside Farmers Market

By Sabrina Hilton and Matt Galle
Northside Farmers Market

The 2025 season of the Northside Farmers Market is well under way. We have unprecedented vendor and volunteer interest. We have also been able to host several first-time community organizations promoting their services to the community. The Lions Club offered free vision screening for children, and the Society for Creative Anachronism engaged market attendees with pre-17th century skills, art, combat and culture.

If you have yet to make it out to a market this season, there are plenty of offerings to satisfy any craving or dietary needs. Join us every Sunday until Oct. 26 in the parking lot at 2817 North Sherman Ave. in the Willy Street Co-op parking lot. The market runs from 8:30 am–12:30 pm.

We have some new vendors this season. Chez Moi prepares West African specialties from Togo, including beignets, bean fritters and fried plantains. Their food is generally cooked to order and is best enjoyed on site. They can be found across from the Information Booth.

Another new vendor that has been a big hit is Yalla Dips. They offer a variety of hummus, baba ghanoush and tzatziki, as well as okra and beet chips. All of their offerings are packaged for take away, but can easily be enjoyed on site. They are located in the center of the market facing the Co-op.

We have had many new volunteers start this season, but we can always use more. If you would like to become a volunteer to help with the market set up and/or (wo)manning the Information Booth and the communal tables to distribute food share benefits to our customers, write to us at manager.nfm@gmail.com. We can share our sign-up calendar with you.
