There’s something exciting happening on the stage at Madison East High School this year: we have two new theater directors bringing their own ideas, energy and passion to our program.
I’m Jacob Greshik, and I’m thrilled to be directing our spring musical. But before we get there, I’m excited to welcome Francisco Torres, who will be directing our fall production, “Treasure Island.”
This isn’t just any production of “Treasure Island” — it’s a panto. If you’ve never experienced a panto before, you’re in for a treat. A panto is a style of theater traditionally filled with comedy, music, audience participation, exaggerated characters and plenty of opportunities for the audience to join in on the fun. It’s theater that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and it’s meant to be enjoyed by everyone.
“Treasure Island” will take the stage at East High during the second week of December. Come ready for adventure, laughs, pirates and plenty of surprises. We’d love to see students, families, friends and members of our Madison community fill the theater and cheer on our performers.
In spring 2027, I’ll be taking over the director’s chair for “Spamalot,” the hilarious musical inspired by “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” The show will run the first and second weekends in May 2027, bringing music, comedy, knights, absurdity and a whole lot of fun to the East High stage.
Theater is at its best when we share it with an audience. Whether you’re a longtime supporter of East High theater or you’ve never been to one of our productions before, I hope you’ll join us.
Come to Madison East High School, take a seat, and let us entertain you. We can’t wait to see you in the theater.
