This year marks a meaningful milestone for the East Madison Community Center (EMCC): 60 years of serving neighbors, strengthening families, and building opportunity across generations.

What began six decades ago in a small apartment has grown into a vibrant community hub serving people of all ages. From early childhood programs and youth development to adult education, wellness activities, and senior engagement, EMCC has remained focused on one goal — helping community members thrive with dignity, connection and support.

Our impact has always been rooted in partnership. Over the years, EMCC has collaborated with dozens of community organizations, schools, service providers and local leaders to expand access to resources and respond to evolving community needs. These partnerships allow us to achieve far more together than any one organization could alone.

One of the strongest reflections of our mission is seen in our leadership. Many young people who grew up participating in EMCC programs now serve as staff members and on our Board of Directors. Their lived experience, accountability and commitment demonstrate the long-term impact of investing in youth and fostering a true sense of belonging.

EMCC is also proud to be a shared community space. Our facility is regularly used by neighborhood groups, partner organizations, and residents for meetings, classes and events — reinforcing our role as a welcoming and accessible gathering place. We offer a variety of spaces for community use, whether you are looking to work out, meet neighbors, or enjoy a game of table tennis. There’s a program or community space for everyone at EMCC.

As we celebrate 60 years, we honor the community members, partners, staff, volunteers and supporters who have made this journey possible. With gratitude for the past and commitment to the future, EMCC looks forward to continuing to serve East Madison for generations to come.

Throughout this anniversary year, we will share stories and memories from community members whose lives have been shaped by EMCC. Stay tuned for celebratory events, our 53rd Annual Summer Camp, the 30th Annual Bowl-a-Thon in November and so much more. See our event calendar at eastmadisoncc.org.
