Children’s Theater of Madison

From March 7–22, Children’s Theater of Madison (CTM) will present a very special show at the Starlight Theater, MYArts at 1055 E. Mifflin St. Based on the picture book “Tiara’s Hat Parade” by Kelly Starling Lyons and adapted for the stage by Paige Hernandez. This production highlights the magic of kindness and creativity in our world.

Tiara loves helping her mother, who makes fabulous one-of-a-kind hats for the women in her community. Hernandez conceived “Tiara’s Hat Parade” as a one-woman show despite the numerous characters in the story. The story shows how creativity results in uplift for a family and enrichment for an entire community.

Hernandez noted that the core message is kindness and “how to be a good citizen and a good friend.” It is also about confidence and wearing your clothes with a bit of style and swag.

Lydia Danielle, who portrays nine different characters, said she has been preparing for this role her whole life. She brings her characters to life by reflecting on family and friends she has known over the years.

Children’s Theater of Madison has a longtime partnership with the East Madison Community Center, inviting youth to CTM Youth Company shows and Community Night performances.
