Dolores Kester, board member of Historic Madison, Inc., shared stories with students from Shabazz High School in Eken Park.
The program was about the Northside and focused on the innovative housing found in the Eken Park neighborhood and how it is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The houses were built using a simple technique called stressed-skin construction, which allows structures to be lightweight, strong and durable, yet inexpensive.
This was the inaugural pilot program of the Burr Angle Youth Education Program provided by Historic Madison, Inc.
