Americans are worried.

According to a recent Gallup poll, a record 55% view their personal financial situation as worsening, more than six in ten said they were apprehensive about not having enough money for retirement, and 60% said they were anxious about not being able to pay medical costs in the event of a serious illness or accident.

I do not need a survey to know that many of you are feeling increasingly concerned about your family’s finances because of the chaotic leadership of Donald Trump. You write to my office and pull me aside at events or when we run into each other in a store. You share your worries and encourage me to do all I can, on a state level, to find solutions.

I will never stop fighting for you.

My Democratic colleagues and I are focused on lowering costs and supporting Wisconsin families. The first pieces of legislation we introduced in January would have reduced grocery bills, helped people stay in their homes, and lowered the cost of medications.

Unbelievably, none of those bills even got a hearing from the State Senate’s Republican majority.

In fact, out of the 446 bills that Senate Democrats authored in the 2025-2026 legislative session, only nine received a Senate public hearing. Further, Republicans decided to quit meeting in March for the remainder of 2026, leaving work undone.

That’s dysfunctional. And it is wrong.

Instead of prioritizing what would help Wisconsinites, majority Republicans have chosen to play political games. They ignore potential solutions to the challenges you face before those solutions even have a chance to be heard.

Legislative Democrats know there is a better way. Working together, we can restore hope, solve tough challenges, and roll up our sleeves to work on the issues that keep you up at night.
