2026 will be a big year for District 12! Starting with the completion of Warner Park Community Recreation Center renovations in January and ending with the beginnings of the Northside Area Plan late in the year, 2026 is a year of new possibilities and community connection.

Bartillon Shelter, the city’s first purpose-built men’s shelter, is on track for operations to begin in April of this year. I have already been familiarizing myself with the outreach and coordination of services that contribute to the smooth operation of the temporary shelter, and in 2026 am being included in some of those coordination meetings to be ready for the transition of operations to the permanent (and full-time) shelter.

Madison Public Market is in the midst of phase 2 of construction, which centers on vendors building out their stalls to fit their personalized needs. The major construction and installation of several beautiful murals on the exterior of the building were completed in 2025. I will be touring the market and meeting with Public Market Foundation staff in January and expect that they are on track to open late spring/mid-year.

The Imagination Center at Reindahl, the city’s newest library and first-ever library within a Madison park, is currently under construction and set to open in September. This will bring much needed community space and connection to services to the surrounding neighborhoods. It’s integration with the park inspires a unique set of opportunities for library programming at this site.

I am so grateful to be able to serve District 12 and to have the honor of seeing all these incredible projects to completion!
