East Madison Little League (EMLL) Softball is gearing up for another exciting season and is looking to grow its program while welcoming new players and community support.

Serving families on Madison’s north and east sides for decades, EMLL continues to focus on creating a positive and fun environment where young athletes can learn the game of softball, develop confidence, and build lasting friendships. As the program continues to expand, league organizers are hoping to bring in additional volunteers to help support their youngest players.

This season, EMLL is specifically seeking volunteers to assist with skills clinics for the U8 softball division. These clinics introduce players to the fundamentals of softball, including throwing, catching, hitting and base running. The goal is to help young athletes build a strong foundation while having fun and learning to love the game.

The opportunity is a great fit for high school and college students with previous softball experience who want to give back to the sport. Helping lead or assist with a clinic provides a chance to mentor younger players, share knowledge of the game, and develop leadership skills, all while making a positive impact in the local community.

“Having experienced players help with our younger athletes makes a huge difference,” organizers said. “Kids look up to them, and it helps inspire the next generation of softball players.”

Beyond learning softball skills, being part of a team offers many benefits for young players. Participating in youth sports helps children develop confidence, learn teamwork, and build friendships that often last well beyond the season. It also strengthens community connections by bringing families together at the ballpark throughout the summer.

While the U8 level focuses on fun and learning the basics, EMLL also fields competitive teams for U10, U12 and U14 players. The softball season runs from May through July, and registration for 2026 is now open for families looking to get involved in the growing program.

With continued support from volunteers, families, and local athletes, EMLL hopes to keep expanding its softball program and provide even more opportunities for young players to step onto the field and experience the joy of the game.
