Starting in May of this year, my Alder committee assignments were updated for the new session and essential all have been new learning experiences. I am still serving on Community Resources Committee, and we are currently evaluating applicants for the current cycle RFP process for job-related services. Community Development Authority (CDA) Board, Greater Madison Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Policy Board, Madison Food Policy Council, are my 3 new city assignments. Additionally, I now serve on the Airport Commission through the county as the Alder District that encompasses the Airport and surrounding neighborhoods. Late this summer, the Truax Air National Guard Base started a Restoration Advisory Board to oversee the remediation of PFAS on and around Truax Field and for a similar reason, I was identified to serve on that Board as well.
Each of these have unique ties to District 12 and the Northside at large! I will be going into deeper detail on each of these assignments on my Alder Blog and the direct significance to the Northside. I will also be making my ongoing schedule more available to folks and share a high-level overview of the work I am doing for the District throughout the month.
Lastly budget season at the city is well under way, and operating budget for the upcoming year will be incredibly difficult. Just the cost to continue current service levels will require millions of dollars of cuts to stay under the spending limit imposed by the State. While I don’t serve on Finance Committee, all Alders are welcome and encouraged to attend the budget hearings. I will do my best to advocate for the Northside and welcome any feedback on what city services are most impactful.
