It’s a long-standing tradition: The first week of June is Madison Bike Week. Organized by the advocacy group Madison Bikes (madisonbikes.org), it is a weeklong celebration of all aspects of biking. Community groups, local businesses or individuals organize dozens of events during the week. In 2025 there were over 80 of them.

Some groups hand out coffee and snacks along a bike path, others organize group rides, offer basic bike tune-ups, or businesses offer discounts throughout the week. If you’re interested in hosting an event, you can still sign up on the Madison Bikes website (madisonbikes.org/events/bikeweek-2026). If funds are an issue, there are small grants available to support events (madisonbikes.org/small-grants).

If you just want to attend 2026 Madison Bike Week, check out the event calendar and create your personal menu of events. There’s something for everyone.

One highlight: Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway and several alders will go on a celebratory bike ride around downtown on Monday, June 1. Northsiders can join a group ride to the event. On June 1, meet at 8 am at the Warner Park Rainbow Shelter for a 6-mile leisurely ride to the state Capitol (ridewithgps.com/routes/54816249). The ride with the mayor and a press conference will start at 9 am.
