On opening night, May 25, Mallards fans were able to see and experience a new, temporary, one-year art installation at the stadium. “Light Wings” is a 20,000-square-foot project made up of small fabric strips vertically suspended over parts of the main seating area. It is not only a dynamic piece of art, but also provides sunshade for fans and a backdrop for a nightly light show.
The artist, Adrian Pere, is a Madison-based Industrial Designer and the founder of Peredesign. For the “Light Wings” installation, he crafted a mesh canopy and attached over 40,000 fabric strips that dance above the crowd.
The installation has three elements: one over the Busch Light Duck Blind general admission area, one over the first base grandstand sections, and a third over the third base grandstand. “Light Wings” was installed high enough to assure that no sight lines are obstructed from current seating areas.
The Mallards and Night Mares have also partnered with Cru Concrete as the presenting sponsor of a new hospitality space at Warner Park. The Cru Concrete Club includes three new dugout suites behind home plate that can accommodate 20–110 fans.
The Mallards, Night Mares, and Cru Concrete will donate $5 for each ticket purchased in the Cru Concrete Club to the McKenzie Regional Workforce Center in Fitchburg. The center trains young people in Dane County for quality, family-sustaining jobs in the skilled trades.
