Association Board of Directors:
The Northside lost one of its greatest supporters last night with the passing of John Kavanaugh.
John was the proud, long-time owner of Kavanagh’s Esquire Club and the co-founder of the Northside Business Association (NBA). He was a tireless supporter, advocate, and ambassador for the Northside, always working to uplift the community he loved so deeply.
John had the original vision for Breakfast with Santa, and for the first few years, he proudly served as Santa himself—until the event “took off” and he needed to be at the helm in the kitchen. Through his leadership and generosity, Breakfast with Santa raised thousands of dollars for Northside food pantries while providing a memorable breakfast experience for children throughout the neighborhood.
John will be greatly missed by everyone in the NBA and across the entire Northside. His dedication, kindness, and community spirit left a lasting impact that will not be forgotten.
Rest in peace, John. Your legacy lives on in the community you helped build.
