Happy August…a time that is somehow both the peak and end of summer! August and September are my favorite transition months. You get those last glorious weeks of summer to enjoy the warmth of the sun, and by the end of September you’re sporting a hoodie and looking forward to crisp, cool air and time on the couch curled up with a book.
Here on the Northside (the best side!) our celebrations of community continue. The Mallards and Night Mares seasons are wrapping up, and with that, the community gets invited further into their space for the Northside Festival, brought to you by the Northside Planning Council with generous support from Willy St. Co-op as presenting sponsor! Join us at the stadium on September 12, from 11:00-3:00 for face painting, food carts, music, and many Northside neighbors, groups, and businesses all coming out to share joy and time together.
The following week brings Warner Family Fun Night! For just $5/family, you can create art, play in the gym, catch a movie, bounce around in a bounce house, and perhaps even win prizes playing bingo! That’s on Friday, September 18, from 5:30-7:30pm at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center.
While summer might be wrapping up, the Northside Farmers Market continues into October. If you haven’t been, I’d encourage you to check it out! You’ll find fresh fruit, vegetables, proteins, cheeses and pastries, along with vendors selling ready-made drinks and meals! I’m enjoying the lavender kombucha for a nightly nightcap. You’ll also find our own FEED Kitchens Bakery Training program there, and if you’re lucky, they’ll still have some of their Coconut Key Lime Cookies. If they don’t, you’re STILL lucky, because all the FEED Bakery options are delicious!
I’m looking forward to seeing you out and about in our amazing community!
