As I sit down to write this column a gentle snow is falling outside, along with the temperature. We are now deep into Wisconsin winter which at FEED Kitchens means we are taking some time to catch our breath after a busy 2025 – our busiest season on record. The rest doesn’t last long, however, as spring will emerge soon enough and the ovens at FEED Kitchens will fire up for almost continuous use until next fall. In preparation for spring, and while we have a bit of planning time, we once again feature some of our annual events. These events are scheduled as a way of introducing the public to the fantastic goings-on inside FEED Kitchens.
The first event you will find us at is the Midwest Garden Expo, where our FEED Bakery has become a popular vendor and we introduce visitors to FEED Kitchens, our FEED Bakery Training initiative, and FEED Bakery itself, which supports both the training and FEED Kitchens operations. Besides satisfying your sweet tooth, FEED Bakery provides a flour sack full of social good. Keep buying our products!
The next event on the winter schedule is a new one for us. “A Shared Sense of Home” will be held Saturday, Feb 28 at the Wil Mar Neighborhood Center and will feature some of the more experienced chefs operating at FEED Kitchens, taking guests through a multicultural dining experience. Chefs representing various regions of the world will be paired to create a four-course dinner and introduce our guests’ palettes to the wonderful and diverse culinary creations that come out of FEED Kitchens.
Finally, our annual signature community eating event, Taste the Future, will be held Friday, March 20 at Warner Park Community Recreation Center. This event features 10 of our newer chefs at FEED Kitchens, giving them a chance to introduce their businesses through small plate offerings and practice their event service delivery in preparation for the summer. Entrepreneurs participating in Taste the Future are carefully selected to represent both the quality and diversity of cuisine being prepared at FEED Kitchens, and being chosen to participate in Taste the Future is an honor for them.
Tickets to both A Shared Sense of Home and Taste the Future will become available soon. Watch FEED Kitchens’ website and Facebook page for further event announcements.
We hope to see you out and about in 2026 enjoying and supporting local food!
