Are you a pickleball athlete or someone curious about trying the fastest growing sport in America?* You’re in luck: our very own Warner Park will soon boast eight reservable pickleball courts as part of a multi-phase effort by the City of Madison Parks Department to revamp the Warner Southeast Recreation Area. This part of the park is bounded by the woods to the west, parking lots to the north, Trailsway to the south, and North Sherman Avenue to the east.

Construction of the new pickleball courts and removal of the deteriorating tennis courts is expected to start in spring 2026, with completion anticipated in fall 2026. As part of this work plan, Madison Parks will also build a paved, multi-use path to access the pickleball courts, and Wild Warner will restore the cleared tennis court area adjacent to the woods with native plantings.

The pickleball courts will rely on existing lighting structures until the second phase of the project, which will reshape the multi-use fields to the east and replace 1960’s-era light poles with more efficient, strategically placed light sources that limit light pollution. Madison Parks anticipates this second phase to begin in fall 2026.

Get your paddles ready and perfect your volleys. The courts are sure to be a hit.
