The River Food Pantry
Want to taste the best of Madison’s notable and ever-growing global food scene? Come to Sips & Slices: A Global Tasting for The River Food Pantry on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 1–4 pm at The River Food Pantry, located at 3301 Packers Ave. in Madison.
Now in its fourth year, this fun culinary event will feature internationally inspired cuisine from a diverse array of local chefs. Attendees will sample bites from around the world while sipping drinks from the bar. The afternoon also includes live music, a silent auction, paddle raise, wine pull and raffles.
This year also marks the first time The River will host their annual fundraiser at their own building, which opened earlier this year. The new facility has plenty of space to accommodate large events, and guests will be able to explore many different areas, including the drive-thru, dining room, kitchen and more.
All proceeds from this annual fundraising event will help provide food and essentials for local households who rely on The River Food Pantry’s free services: groceries for pickup or delivery, to-go meals, mobile meals, community meals, online grocery orders, after-hours food lockers and clothing.
“We live in a vibrant and diverse city with so much delicious food to try. This event showcases the global cultural influences and the local community spirit that make Madison a special place,” said Rhonda Adams, executive director at The River, Dane County’s busiest food pantry. “Sips & Slices is more than a fun afternoon. It’s a chance during Hunger Action Month to make a real impact for the growing number of children, seniors and families experiencing food insecurity in our community.”
Standard tickets are $125 and include food tastings and two drinks. One hour before the event opens, there will also be a VIP Pre-Event featuring drink samples from around the world paired with curated bites. VIP tickets are $150.
