The Northside Planning Council (NPC) is a nonprofit founded in 1993. NPC is a robust, diverse, high impact mission driven nonprofit making a difference in many ways through the following programs:

FEED Kitchens and the access to entrepreneurship and job creation associated with its member food businesses.

FEED Bakery & Training with its paid apprenticeships offering job training, skill development and professional certification for unemployed and underemployed individuals – not to mention FEED Bakery’s simply delicious baked goods for sale.

Northside News free community newspaper sharing local information and resources and shaping our shared Northside identity for 30 years now.

Health Food for All which specializes in the recovery and distribution of excess prepared food from events and cafeterias as well as produce from area farms and farmer’s markets.

Northside Community Organizing where we participate in and give support to many different Northside people, projects and places ongoing.

Additionally, NPC and its programs create and organize numerous valued community events including, FEED Holiday Bazaar (Dec. 20, 2025), Taste the Future (March 20, 2026), Northside Festival (September 2026), North Star Awards (October 2026) and other events such as candidate forums for local elections.

NPCs Mission is to improve the quality of life and foster equity on the Northside of Madison through community organizing and economic development.

NPCs Purpose is to be a Facilitator, Connector, and Resource for Northside businesses, people and neighborhoods. Our food system work impacts all of Madison and Dane County.
