Dear Neighbor,

We are living through the cruelty of the Trump regime using the government to bully people into submission to the billionaires — but I am heartened to see so many people stepping up to support their neighbors.

Over the last two months, we have seen the impacts of the Republican budget shutdown: they illegally withheld SNAP benefits, making hungry kids and seniors into political hostages in the richest country in the world. They halted HeadStart funding again, and healthcare premiums are skyrocketing, among other calamities.

We have a proven model for long-term success to confront these billionaires. Around the country, Democrats followed the playbook Wisconsin Senate Democrats used to win in 2024: Focus on cost-of-living challenges and protecting people’s freedom to make reproductive healthcare decisions. In elections around the country, that has led to electoral victories in the November 2025 elections.

As your state senator, I have been relentlessly focused on increasing wages, lowering costs, and protecting your freedom. Since I last wrote, I introduced legislation to improve transit throughout the state — I know how important reliable transit can be to get from your affordable housing to a job opportunity, groceries, or any other appointment. Additionally, I introduced legislation to improve the school funding formula, which will help hold the line on property tax increases, and legislation to eliminate onerous abortion restrictions to reduce political interference in healthcare.

For years, our communities have been suffering because of a GOP-led legislature that defaults to inaction instead of working alongside Wisconsinites to build an economy where everyone can thrive. I hope you will continue to engage because the future belongs to those who organize!

Warmly, KHR
