Scouts BSA Troop 127

It’s been an exciting and successful start to the year for Troop 127, filled with hard work, big accomplishments, and new opportunities. Troop 127 earned first place and the grand champion award at the council’s Klondike Derby, a yearly day-long competition amongst scout troops. Points are awarded for team work, scout spirit, and competency in various outdoor and survival skills. Scouts participate in different events, and leaders award points to the different troops depending on their performance. Troop 127 was proud to bring home the traveling trophy following their win.

On top of that, two scouts from Troop 127 reached an incredible milestone by earning the Eagle Scout rank at the end of the year.

In February, the troop went to Hoard Curtis Scout Camp in Cambridge for a weekend of cabin camping. While there, scouts got a lot of advancement done.

In March, the troop distributed flyers for the Scouting for Food Drive and picked up nonperishable food to give to a local food pantry. The troop participates in the program every year as a community service project.

The troop is looking forward to a May campout, where we will be doing small boat sailing. In June, a crew of 12 from the troop will be traveling to the U.S. Virgin Islands for a week-long sailing trip on a 46-foot vessel, where they will cook and sleep while traveling around the island of St. John.
