The growing season is right around the corner, and we can’t wait to be back on the land at Troy Farm and Gardens.
As spring gets underway, we’re preparing to welcome the kids back to Troy Kids’ Garden. We’re looking forward to hosting school field trips and Northside community center students to help us wake up the garden and begin to explore, grow and learn together again.
We’ll be kicking off the Troy Farm season with our annual Plant Sale in May, now expanded to two days. We’ll have a variety of vegetables, herbs, fruits and even more flowers than ever this year, as well as specialty HMoob herbs and some native prairie wildflowers.
Looking ahead to the summer, we’re hard at work planning opportunities for the community to come together and enjoy the land at Troy. We loved sharing Pizza Nights with you last summer, but this year we’re pivoting to a new way to gather on the land that is less labor intensive for our farm crew and volunteers. We’ll be inviting the community to Troy for Garden Nights every fourth Thursday from June to September, with guided kids activities led by our education team, tours of the farm and prairie, live music and more. Garden Nights are open to all (and are at the same time as CSA pick-up for Troy Farm Members) to come enjoy the land and experience everything that’s growing throughout the season.
Lastly, we haven’t forgotten about one of our favorite new events. Farm to School Aid will be returning for its second year. This time we’ll be celebrating our school garden education programs at the end of the summer to send us off as another school year begins. We can’t wait to see you for this family friendly music festival fundraiser again this year.
We have heard there will be road construction on Troy Drive this summer, but we’ll still be growing and gathering at Troy Farm and Gardens all season. We hope you’ll join us.
