The Warner Park Community Recreation Center KNOW program is excited to continue expanding opportunities for youth, families and community members this year. Our gymnasium is now open and providing consistent spaces for recreation and connection.

Youth Open Gym is available on weekdays from 3–6 pm for members ages 11–18, offering a safe and active place for young people to play basketball, build friendships, and stay engaged after school. We also offer Adult Open Gym on Thursdays and Fridays from 6–8 pm for individuals ages 18 and older, creating space for community members to stay active and connected through basketball and recreation.

We will be adding other sports for our youth and adult open gyms, including indoor soccer and futsal, as well as open volleyball. Pickleball will be available on five courts beginning May 18.

Looking ahead to the summer, we are excited to launch our first Adult Men’s Pro-Am Basketball League beginning after June 12. This 7-week competitive league will be open to men ages 18 and older and will feature high-level talent, including former and current college players as well as experienced competitive players from across the region. Registration will open in May, and participants will be screened to ensure balanced competition and a high-quality experience for players and spectators alike. Contact WPCRC Program Coordinator Marquis Sanders for more information (msanders@cityofmadison.com).

We are also proud to offer a free 8-week Summer Girls Mentorship Program for young women ages 11–18 currently in middle or high school. This program is designed to empower and uplift young women through mentorship, confidence-building workshops, and stress management strategies. Participants will also take part in educational field trips and learn entrepreneurial skills through hands-on workshops focused on hair braiding and eyelash extensions, providing both creative expression and potential career pathways.

Lastly, our WPCRC Family Fun Nights will continue throughout the year, bringing families together for evenings of entertainment and community connection. Upcoming dates include April 10, May 8, June 12, September 18, October 30, November 20, and December 11 from 5:30–7:30 PM. These events will feature activities for all ages, including face painting, arts and crafts, bouncy houses, movies, food options, and family bingo. Family Fun Nights are a great opportunity for families to relax, have fun, and connect with neighbors in a welcoming environment.
