Northside Farmers Market 21st season off to a strong start

By Sabrina Hilton and Matt Galle
Northside Farmers Market

The market is off to a strong start with one of the biggest opening days to date. If you haven’t already made visiting the market part of your Sunday ritual, it’s not too late. Join us every Sunday until Oct. 26 in the Northside TownCenter parking lot near Willy Street Co-op. The market runs from 8:30 am–12:30 pm.

This year we have several new vendors, including Dillish Homemade Pickles. Dillish got its start in spring 2024, when best friends Corey and Sarah decided to make some pickles from their garden. The pickles were so delicious that friends and family started requesting and buying them, and the small business exploded from there. Corey and Sarah refined their recipes, received their LLC, and Dillish became official.

You can find them and their products at various Midwest farmers markets and festivals. Follow them on social media to see where they’ll be next — Dillish Homemade Pickles on Facebook and dillish.homemade.pickles on Instagram.

Another new opportunity at the market this year is an offer from the Troy Gardens Collaborative. They are providing a free food scrap drop-off site at the market. Save your compostable scraps in a covered container (fruits and vegetables, but no meat) and empty them into the collection bin at the market. Please, no plastic bags. Even “biodegradable” bags are not easily composted.

And, as always, we are looking for more volunteers to help with market set up, staffing the information booth and the communal tables, and distributing food share benefits to our customers. You can write to us at manager.nfm@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering, and we will share our sign-up calendar with you.
