Northside Farmers Market starts 21st season May 11

By Sabrina Hilton and Matt Galle
Northside Farmers Market

Mark your calendars. We anticipate another great season of the Northside Farmers Market starting May 11 with many of your favorite farmers and vendors as well as new farmers and suppliers. We will continue to have weekly musical performances as well as community organizations sharing programming for young and old. This year we also anticipate hosting a community compost collection site.

This will be the ninth season we have managed the market. It is often the highlight of our week. We joke that it is our church. We are enriched by the community that comes together at the market in support of nourishing food and nourishing relationships.

Our two children, Goldie and Oliver, join us every week at the market, and we cherish the values and skills they are developing through exposure and involvement with the market. We credit their time there for their developing characteristics of confidence, patience, respect, social skills, and the value of food quality and variety, Thank you all for the roles you play in our extended community family.

If you are inspired to be a volunteer with the market, we are looking for volunteers to help make this year a success. We rely on volunteers to help set up the communal infrastructure at the market, such as the information booth and communal tables, and to distribute food share benefits to our customers.

Write to us at manager.nfm@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering, and we can share our sign-up calendar with you.
