Greetings, Northside Neighbors.
How are you doing? I hope you are doing well and that you are finding encouragement and beauty encountering you through diverse ways (sunrises, sunsets, human kindness, tasty food, a great song, a good read, a warm hug or warm cup of tea/cocoa/coffee, etc.) This beauty and these small (and large) gifts still come to us, even while all things are not how they ought to be nor how we would like them to be.
I find myself encouraged by and appreciating the many creative offerings made by fellow Northsiders found in this Northside News issue. There is the poem by Kathlean keeping us on track and illuminating a path of presence and agency, still. There is the excellent art of Northsiders Lael and Betsy, and the first contributions of new writers like Elise and Amanda. There are the checks given and assured by Dolores and Beth to support work they believe is valuable. There is the volunteer proofreading by Rita, Anita and Gay. There is so much more to name. Thank you all for giving of yourself. Not what you don’t have and can’t give, but what you do have and can give.
Tis the season for giving, and for asking, if you are part of the mission driven world of nonprofits like we are here at the Northside Planning Council. I don’t so much like asking for money, but I do so much believe in the work we are part of to “improve the quality of life and foster equity on the Northside”, our community, to help all people’s lives be better.
Thanks for allowing us to ask for your support in time, talent and treasure (see page 4). Thanks for giving where and what you can to make the Northside a community for all to prosper and be seen, known and cared for.
