Peaceful Wellness Studio and Holistic Center invites Northside neighbors to “Find your calm with us!” The business opened in 2018 about a mile south of the current location at 2114 N. Sherman Ave. #6-8 (on the lower level of DuWayne’s Salon). After changes imposed by the pandemic in 2022, Peaceful Wellness moved to larger offices and built a team of practitioners to conduct group classes, private sessions, workshops and online classes.
Founder Deb Phelps is a certified Meditation Teacher, Sound Healer, Mindfulness Coach, and Yoga Specialist. Phelps describes the focus on “Find your calm” by explaining that “We’ve got so many things going on in the world that have pulled us in different directions have created stress for ourselves. It creates a lot of tension, and I think it’s really important that we come to a place of calm and presence because when we can do that, we’re able to make those decisions that need to be made for ourselves: mindful choices.”
Phelps, a Northside resident for decades, describes how her background and experience contribute to the offerings at Peaceful Wellness Studio, “I’m a meditation teacher and have been practicing meditation for 45 years, so that’s the main thing that I do. I also do sound healing. That’s through the instruments and everything that I have in the (studio) room. Sound baths are what they’re called, because you’re bathed in sound. That is a form of meditation as well. I’m also a yoga teacher, but right now we’re only doing restorative yoga, because I think it’s important to bring us into that space to remove those tensions and those obstacles that we’ve held all day long or all year.”
Since relocating about a mile north on Sherman Avenue after changes imposed by the pandemic in 2022, Peaceful Wellness has built a larger team of practitioners to conduct group classes, private sessions, workshops and online classes. The addition of several other staff members has created opportunities to offer classes and experiences in other disciplines. Peaceful Wellness offers include aromatherapy, deep relaxation, Reiki, Cranial Sacral Therapy, yoga, ayurvedic therapies, Core Talk (a kind of listening to your inner self), and TRE (Tension Releasing Exercises).
Current online offerings (at https://peacefulwellness.studio/online-stu
dio) include a January Meditation Challenge (free of charge), a Mini Online Meditation Retreat (January 11th), an ongoing online daily meditation and other events through January and February.
