Madison Bikes
Do you want to see better functioning and safer streets in your neighborhood? Join Madison Bikes in advocating for safe and equitable biking and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure in Madison.
Madison Bikes (madisonbikes.org) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (all-volunteer run) and its mission is to shape a city where anyone can ride a bicycle conveniently and comfortably all year round.
Madison Bikes serves as a critical voice for cyclists, pedestrians and all non-drivers, collaborating with local partners and city officials to make biking and walking safer, equitable and more enjoyable across all neighborhoods. A primary goal of the nonprofit is to advocate for closing gaps in the city’s bike network, targeting intersections and roads that leave riders and pedestrians exposed and vulnerable. Recent advocacy efforts include spearheading community input on Stoughton Road improvements (reducing speed limits, safer crossings, more green space) and how bike infrastructure will be implemented in the North-South BRT planning and construction.
In addition to advocacy and events, Madison Bikes offers grant support to amplify its efforts and to ensure biking isn’t just for seasoned cyclists but accessible for all, regardless of age, ability or neighborhood. If you have a bike-related project or idea that needs funding, we may be able to help. Learn more at madisonbikes.org/small-grants.
