Shaunte

Greetings Northsiders!

Shaunte McCullum for webSince becoming Board Chair of the Northside Planning Council, I’ve had the opportunity to learn more and more about the Northside of Madison. I recently participated in a tour of Feed Kitchens organized for the Madison-Kanifing Sister City from the Gambia. It was interesting to witness the impact that NPC’s Food Operations Programs such as Feed Kitchens is having not only locally, but abroad.

I also had the pleasure of attending the 33rd Anniversary Northside Business Association event recently. I was able to hear from long-time business owners, retired business owners and leaders of the Northside on what the Northside means to them, their history with the Northside, and how the association came to be. Just being in the room with so much history and Northside Pride, I left there feeling proud to be a business owner of the Northside and wanting to be more engaged as a member.

There are some upcoming events that I am looking forward to connecting with business owners and residents of the community. I hope to see some of you during our Open Board Meeting on June 20 at our NPC Aberg Avenue office. Attending the meeting is a great opportunity to become familiar with the Board of Directors of NPC and for us to hear from the community. Another great opportunity to connect will be during The Northside Festival in September. We are looking forward to this event and hoping to see you all there as a community.
