If tailgating food, cold drinks and great company are your kind of pre-game ritual, then come on out for Sips & Slices: A Tailgate Taste-off for The River on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 1–4 pm at The East Side Club, 3735 Monona Dr.
Now in its third year, this fun cooking competition will feature teams of local chefs and celebrities who will battle for the title of Best Tailgate Slice. Attendees will sample a variety of tailgate-inspired slices and vote for their favorites, while sipping drinks from the bar. The afternoon also includes a silent auction, paddle raise, raffles and music.
All the proceeds from this annual fundraising event will help provide food and essentials for local households who rely on The River Food Pantry’s free services: groceries for pickup or delivery, to-go meals, online grocery orders, mobile meals, and after-hours food lockers.
“We’re bringing the spirit of game day to life with delicious food, refreshing drinks, and friendly competition — all for a great cause,” said Rhonda Adams, executive director at The River, Dane County’s busiest food pantry. “Sips & Slices is more than a fun afternoon. It’s a chance during Hunger Action Month to make a real impact for the growing number of children, seniors and families experiencing food insecurity in our community.”
Early bird tickets cost $90 now through Aug. 1. The price will then increase to $100. Tickets include tailgate tastings, two voting tickets and one drink token. To purchase tickets, become a sponsor, and learn more about the event, visit riv
